Supporting High-Quality Operational Maintenance Service “Owlook” on AWS
Koankeiso Co., Ltd. provides equipment and system operations in conjunction with their expertise in the IoT industry. They offer three main services, namely ICT skill service, healthcare skill service and the Keiso (meaning instrumentation) skill service.
One of their original support services is “Owlook System Management.” This service provides their customers access to a 24/7 monitoring service which is backed by their own professionals. If a problem should occur, Koankeiso’s professionals could promptly handle the repair work remotely. Another one of their services is “Owlook Security Management,” which provides security operations and management, as well as 24/7 monitoring. This service is comprised of several services such as Sophos’ unified threat management software “Sophos UTM,” F-Secure’s vulnerability scanning and management platform “Radar”, as well as the endpoint security software “PSB.”
Flexible Use of the AWS Environment
Koankeiso builds accurate, custom-built systems by adhering to the exact requirements of their customers. In order to set up the environments they build, Koankeiso has adopted Amazon Web Service (AWS) so that their engineers can comfortably test various products and technologies.
For instance, they tested a system configuration in which Sophos UTM is sandwiched between external and internal ELB, as well as:
- Deployment from AWS CloudFormation
- EC2 Auto Scaling
- Public resources and internal shared folders utilizing buckets of Amazon S3
- Monitoring with Amazon CloudWatch custom metrics + Amazon SNS
- Amazon EC2 and AMIs
Since Amazon EC2 usage are billed on one second increments, the users are free to use it whenever they would like to demonstrate UTM to their customers, or when the presales team would like to learn about the systems and tools for example.
